A pocket watch from 1927, brought back to regular use
Full Heritage Service — Chiang Mai client
The situation
A client brought in a Swiss pocket watch made in 1927 that had not run in over thirty years. The movement was seized and the case had some surface wear. The client wanted to see if it could be worn again, and if not, to at least understand its condition.
What we did
The movement was fully disassembled, cleaned, and re-lubricated. The mainspring was assessed as still viable. Two small components were beyond repair and we advised the client that they could live with this or we could source alternatives — they chose to leave them. The case was lightly polished at their request.
The outcome
The watch now runs and keeps reasonable time — not chronometer accuracy, but wearable and reliable for what it is. Duration: four weeks. The client has since worn it regularly and returned for a strap change six months later.
Strap fitting for a watch bought in Switzerland thirty years ago
Strap and Buckle Replacement — expat resident
The situation
A long-term Chiang Mai resident had a wristwatch purchased in the 1990s. The original strap had finally worn through and they wanted a replacement that would suit the watch without making it look different from how they remembered it.
What we did
We measured the lug width and pulled out three leather options that were close to the original in character. The client chose one, we fitted it with a matching pin buckle, and adjusted the length to their wrist. No upselling, no extras.
The outcome
Ready the following morning. The client described the result as looking as it always had. Completed within the standard price range, with nothing added. They noted they appreciated not being pushed toward anything more expensive.
